“In my role as CEO of Spaceship, Alec reported to me for nearly four years, during which time he was a respected leader in the business, and a valued member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Alec had a huge impact on Spaceship over the years, purposefully creating a People function from the ground up, and being instrumental in building the diverse and talented team we have today. His activities and achievements included: designing and implementing Spaceship’s hiring approach and procedures; executing around 100 hires during his tenure; crafting our people policies and employee value proposition; establishing remuneration structures and driving performance and remuneration reviews; cultivating engagement through surveys, recognition programs, and an autonomous Vibe Committee.
There were many things Alec accomplished at Spaceship for the first time in his career, and in each case, he approached the challenge with energy, clear-thinking and a sense of purpose. This extends beyond People & Talent - for example, Alec introduced OKRs, anchored Spaceship's weekly 'Town Hall', led numerous special projects, and oversaw our physical workplaces.
From a personal perspective, I learnt a lot from working with Alec. We didn't always have the same views, but I loved that he challenged me, as it invariably resulted in us achieving better outcomes for the business and our team.
At the core of everything Alec did, he had the team front of mind. His legacy lives on at Spaceship and will continue to for many years to come.”
